Let us share our story with you...

With our attention to detail and dedication to excellence, we produce the best quality ironmongery for both modern and traditional homes.

Here at Oldfield Forge, we approach every project as an opportunity to create something unique and tailored to each individual client’s needs. We are a specialist traditional blacksmith company providing the highest attention to design, detail and craftsmanship, keeping alive a long heritage of unrivalled British expertise.

A selection of our practical and artistic ironwork is displayed in our showroom in Herefordshire, and we welcome visitors to view the collection. We also offer tours of the forge workshop, so you can see first-hand the care and detail we apply to all our bespoke hand-crafted ironmongery. We also invite you to join us for a cup of tea in our home where we hope the beauty of the ironmongery will inspire you to be creative and innovative with your own space.

However, if this is not feasible, then our website offers a glimpse of the various ranges of ironmongery we offer.

Oldfield Forge

Established for some 13 years, Oldfield Forge Ltd. is a traditional family-run blacksmithing business set in the very heart of rural Herefordshire. It was founded by the two of us, husband and wife team, Aaron and Nicky Heath. Aaron is the head blacksmith whilst Nicky is the business manager. Between us and our small band of talented blacksmiths we like to think that we have built a strong and highly respected organisation with a reputation for producing ironmongery of the very highest quality and featuring outstanding design and craftsmanship.

Possessed of a natural aptitude for this type of work Aaron has dedicated his adult life to the art of the traditional blacksmith, continually pushing and establishing new boundaries in metalwork. However as well as creating the more contemporary pieces he also has a deep interest in the conservation of heritage ironmongery and his knowledge and experience in this field has enabled him to work alongside some of the country’s leading architects, designers, specialist contractors and conservation experts on projects for organisations such as National Trust, English Heritage and Cadw. These have involved many historic, ecclesiastic and other similarly prestigious properties.

Nicky is the business organiser and developer. She has responsibility for sales, purchasing, marketing and setting the weekly sta work schedules as well as dealing with the multitude of other vital day to day duties that are essential to the running of a successful company. She has a real flair for interior design and takes a leading role in creating and developing new product ranges. Nicky was also the driving force behind the setting up of Oldfield Forge Academy which, along with the Forge itself, has gone from strength to strength under her guidance and supervision.

The Academy

Oldfield Forge Academy was set up by Nicky and Aaron Heath back in 2014. The initial idea for a dedicated blacksmith training centre was the brainchild of Nicky. She visualized it as an activity that would integrate very well with the long-established forge workshop located as it is in the beautiful rural countryside of West Herefordshire. She was right! As far as we are aware Oldfield Forge Academy remains the only such forge-work training facility in the country.

In its early stages the Academy concentrated largely upon bringing knowledge of the traditional blacksmith’s craft to schools and other educational establishments as well as to ex-military personnel, ex-offenders and Headway (the brain injury association). However things moved on apace and growing public awareness of the new venture soon led to the Academy being asked to also offer tuition and life skills sessions to vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. This enables them to create their own individual piece of ironmongery - a lasting memento that they can take home with them and which will always remind them of their time at Garway Hill.

In 2015 the family took the decision to begin ‘Blacksmithing experience days’ at the Academy, running Monday - Saturday all year round. We now offer packages and courses to suit every occasion including Family Days-out, Day Dates, Just for Fun and Stag/Hen/Team Building sessions. We also work alongside local vineyard, brewery and cider-making establishments offering tours of their facilities as an optional add-on to your time with us.
At Oldfield Forge Academy we do strive very hard to make your experience    here a very happy and memorable one and we hope that you will have no hesitation in recommending us to your friends.
