Oldfield Forge is open throughout the year, seven days a week, although weekend dates should be reserved well in advance. You can also buy an e-voucher, valid for 18 months, covering two people attending two full-day sessions and making two rings. Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive an email with the information you need and a form to complete. You’ll be welcomed to the forge before receiving a full safety briefing and demonstration from your instructor. You’ll then forge and finish your own bottle opener using traditional blacksmithing techniques. After the workshop you’ll head to Westons Cider for a guided tour and tasting, making this a memorable day that combines practical craftsmanship with local heritage and flavour.

Our Blacksmithing & Cider Tasting Package combines traditional blacksmithing with one of Herefordshire’s best-known cider experiences. You’ll begin by forging your own handcrafted bottle opener under the guidance of an experienced blacksmith before travelling to Westons Cider for a guided tour and tasting. No previous experience is required, making it an excellent choice for couples, friends, gift recipients and anyone looking for a unique day out.

Please wear long trousers and sturdy closed-toe footwear suitable for a workshop environment. Comfortable clothing is recommended, and all tools, materials and personal protective equipment are supplied. Arrive a few minutes early for your safety briefing. You’ll need your own transport between Oldfield Forge and Westons Cider.

This experience is suitable for complete beginners and no previous blacksmithing experience is needed. Because the experience includes cider tasting, participants must be aged 18 or over. It’s ideal for couples, friends, small groups and anyone looking for an unusual gift. The forging workshop involves standing, using hammers and working around hot metal, so a reasonable level of mobility is recommended.
