What a fabulous experience, great set up and appreciated the support of experts throughout our time. Would highly recommend to anyone
Amazing experience!! I have to be honest, being a clumsy and not very strong person, I worried if the knife-making experience would be a good fit for me, but I can safely say it was absolutely great!
There were moments were I needed help and both Feb and Chef were there to help and guide me. They're both friendly, funny and always obliging.
I definitely recommend the Viking knife-making for beginners like me, because it only lasts 3 hours, but be advised that it is no walk in the park. You need to be serious, listen to the safety guidelines and definitely know your limits! If you're afraid of fire or afraid to hold and use a hammer, this is not for you!
All in all great experience!!

All in all great experience!!
Honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had the pleasure of doing. I really didn't know what to expect but it was fantastic and hugely exceeded my expectations. Taking a bland piece of steel and working it into a beautiful knife was unreal, it really gives you a sense of achievement!
All the staff are extremely helpful and guide you through the whole process. Our instructor was Duncan who was clear, friendly and gave great directions throughout. Thanks again for a terrific day, we will be back to forge again! 🔨🗡️

Absolutely brilliant time on the 2 day knife forge experience. Be warned their portions are very generous and very delicious !
Best breakfast around!
What a wonderful place to go, friendly and helpful staff very knowledgeable and amazing to watch.
Had such a great day
Had such a great day
We had a great time making butterfly and plant climber supports, staff were great!
Went for a friend's stag do all working together to create a sword for him was brilliant and had a lot of fun each making a bottle opener.
Beni, Gabe and Alex were superb teaching us how to do it.
Even with the amount of people in there constantly working in what could be a dangerous environment never felt at risk at all, as someone with generally high anxiety this was still a great environment

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I got off first my course with this company yesterday and I’m still in awe of everything. I have visited other forges before for experience days and will say to anyone looking for somewhere to try out blacksmithing, to go to oldfield forge, they are a cut above. The quality of instruction and support and experience I had there was well beyond my prior experiences and because of that I was able to make something far better than I expected and make it exactly how I wanted it. I especially want to thank (in no particular order) Cam, Andy, Jai, Matt, Nicky and Sam (I apologise if I have got anyone’s names spelt wrong or forgotten anyone) for the parts they played in making this experience for me. I will definitely be coming back to make another, and recommending you to anyone who will listen. I will make sure to send a photo on of my knife once I have coffee blacked it. I attached a photo of what I walked away with yesterday.
Had a 3 hour exsperiance. The place is amazing. Staff knowledge is exceptional. 3 of.us made a bottle.opener knife and candle stick. Would highly recommend anyone to do.this. and it's amazing to see and do this dying art. Amazing day overall will be back
We had an absolutely fantastic time at Oldfield Forge, where our Stag group of 15 got to collectively forge a sword for our groom-to-be, as well as each making our very own bottle opener. Because what's the point of having a sword if you can't open a beer afterwards?
A massive thank you to Benji, Gabe and Alex, who were absolutely brilliant from start to finish. They expertly guided our merry band of completely unqualified blacksmiths through the experience, making sure we all got stuck in, had a laugh and somehow emerged with all our fingers intact!
The highlight was undoubtedly taking turns helping the Stag forge his sword while providing the sort of relentless verbal abuse that only your closest mates can deliver. Nothing quite says friendship like 14 blokes insulting you while you hammer a glowing piece of metal into submission.
The whole experience was incredibly hands-on, brilliantly organised and genuinely something a bit different for a stag do. We came away with some fantastic memories, personalised bottle openers and a sword that our Stag will hopefully treasure forever (or at least until his future wife finds somewhere safe to hide it).
Would absolutely recommend Oldfield Forge to anyone looking for a unique group experience, stag activity or just an excuse to swing a hammer and pretend they're a medieval blacksmith.

Lovely day to be had making a leather bag with Graham. Very patient teacher.
I bought the pen knife experience for my boyfriend and I as a birthday present, and it was incredible. We had the best day and Andrew looked after us really well, he was patient and explained the process thoroughly, he was always on hand to help where needed and guided us through the whole experience. He was clearly very knowledgeable and experienced. The cafe was great too - the food portions are very generous and reasonably priced. There are some lovely pieces of metalwork ready to buy as well. This will be my go to present idea and we will definitely be back to make more knives!
Did the 5 hour just for fun experience, had an amazing day, we were a little lost at first but then Feb came and helped us and everything was great, thank you so much Feb!
Brilliant 2 days at the forge. Andrew took us through the knife forging on day 1 who was very helpful and gave us confidence. Alex was also great on day 2 when I did handle making. My wife also did the 3 hour garden experience with Callum, who again was also great. Superb team, fantastic environment. Will definitely be back to do more forging in the future.
Absolutely amazing thing to do. My daughter and I recently visited and everyone was superb. The experience is so real the team are so friendly as well. Big shout out to Jai, Callum and everyone else who turned two novices in to Blacksmiths for the afternoon. Nice coffee house as well. Really good experience, smart setting, so clean and tidy and I can really recommend it. Thank you for looking after us.
WHAT A SUPER FUN EXPERIENCE!!!
I went with the intention of helping my partner create a knife for his birthday.... i left wanting to do EVERY COURSE they offer and even asking about volunteering.
The website doesn't do this place justice, which is great because when you arrive it is so well thought out and the little details have been though of here, really well!!
The thing for me which is so apparent is the team of people that work there, really make the forge what it is... the best experience day.
Our blacksmith Alex was an incredibly good teacher, safety came paramount and his manner of teaching just really helped us all understand. His patience, kindness and friendly nature really made the experience. Whilst spending two days with Alex we saw him help so many of his team in different ways whilst carrying out his own job so well. It was amazing to watch a large group of people work together like a real family. It really makes the forge. I just need you to get Alex on the damascus training so we can come back ASAP! Haha.
From Alex to Nikki and Bristol who got given a rather crazy request of laser etching a logo onto our very small knife... the general manager actually took the time out (from what looks to be the busiest day) to make that happen.
The staff all interact with the customers which breads this energy of communication within the forge days and gets you interactong with other people to find out about their makes and forging experience. We met some super cool folks here and made some new friends!
The cafe serves local, tasty goodness but the real treat is Kerry!! What a woman. With her homemade coleslaw! I heard its her Mums family recipe. And damnnnnn is it tasty! Both Kerry and Connie were so lovely. You'd see them answering questions and i even witnessed them helping with so many other tasks. Thats what i loved avout the forge, everyone seemed to really just muck in and make it the best experience.
We are so grateful to everyone we met and we cannot wait to come back. Thank you for the best weekend.
