Booking is easy through our online booking system, where you can view live availability and choose a date that suits you.

Oldfield Forge operates throughout the year, seven days a week, although weekends and popular dates often book well in advance.

Looking for the perfect gift? You can also purchase an e-voucher, valid for 18 months, allowing the recipient to choose a convenient date.

Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive all the information you need before your experience.

Over two immersive days, your instructor will demonstrate each stage before guiding you through it yourself. You’ll experience the excitement of working at the forge as your Damascus knife gradually takes shape, with every stage bringing you closer to your finished blade.

At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with the Damascus blade you’ve created yourself. From there, you can choose how you’d like to complete your knife:

• In-House Finishing – Leave your blade with us and we’ll professionally fit a wooden handle, sharpen and finish your knife before posting it back to you.
• One-Day Knife Handling Workshop – Return to the forge and fit the handle and complete your knife yourself with expert guidance. (Booking link)
• DIY Knife Handling Kit – Finish your knife at home in your own time. (Shop link)
• Bespoke Metal Handle – Upgrade your knife with a custom-designed metal handle for a truly distinctive finish.

You can also personalise your knife with laser engraving or complete it with one of our handcrafted leather sheaths for an additional charge. (Shop link)

Make a day of your visit and enjoy everything Oldfield Forge has to offer. Our brand-new café is the perfect place to relax before, during or after your experience, serving freshly prepared refreshments, delicious locally sourced Herefordshire food, homemade cakes and traditional afternoon teas.

Friends and family are always welcome, whether they’d like to watch the action from nearby, unwind in the café or enjoy the peaceful surroundings of our woodland seating area. With children’s games, a dedicated play area and plenty of space to relax, it’s the perfect place for visitors of all ages.

Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, meeting up with family or simply enjoying a great day out in the Herefordshire countryside, our café offers the perfect place to eat, relax and make even more memories together.

Our Damascus Knife Making experience is an unforgettable two-day workshop where you’ll work one-to-one with an experienced blacksmith to create your very own Damascus steel knife. From forging and pressing the steel through to shaping and finishing the blade, you’ll be guided through every stage of the process while learning the traditional skills behind one of the world’s most admired knives.

Please wear:

• Long trousers
• Sturdy, closed-toe footwear (boots are ideal)
• Comfortable clothing suitable for a workshop

Avoid loose-fitting clothing and synthetic fabrics where possible.

We’ll provide everything else, including all tools, materials and personal protective equipment.

Your experience includes:

• Two full days at the forge (approximately 6 hours each day) running 7 days a week at 9am-4pm or 1-7pm
• Two people working together to make one knife.
• All steel, materials, tools and safety equipment
• Your handcrafted Damascus steel knife to take home

The experience costs £495 per person.

This is designed as a solo experience, but two people are welcome to share the workshop and create one knife together, ideal for couples, friends or family members looking for a memorable day out.

Please note that your knife is supplied with the finished blade. Wooden handles, leather sheaths and other finishing options are available at an additional cost.

This experience is perfect for complete beginners as well as anyone with an interest in blacksmithing, bladesmithing or would like an unforgettable day out.. No previous experience is required.

Participants must be 16 years or older and be comfortable working in a forge environment.
