Book through the online booking system, which shows live availability and allows you to select suitable dates. Oldfield Forge is open throughout the year, seven days a week, although weekend dates should be reserved well in advance. You can also buy an e-voucher, valid for 18 months, covering two people attending two full-day sessions and making two rings. Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive an email with the information you need and a form to complete. The experience page advises flexible booking but does not set out the full cancellation or refund terms, so check the booking conditions or contact the team directly before purchasing if date changes, cancellations or refunds are important to you.

Each day brings your sword one step closer to life. You’ll begin by designing your blade before forging, shaping and refining it under the guidance of your blacksmith. As the workshop progresses, you’ll fit the crossguard and pommel before reaching one of the most anticipated moments of the entire experience, the burn-through.

It’s loud, it’s exciting and it’s a moment every participant remembers. Make sure your phone or camera is fully charged, you’ll definitely want to capture this!

Over the three days you’ll watch a raw piece of steel transform into a sword worthy of display. Whether you’ve created a fantasy-inspired blade, a medieval masterpiece or your own family sword, you’ll leave with a truly one-of-a-kind creation and the unforgettable experience of forging it from start to finish.

Our Sword Making experience is an immersive three-day workshop where you’ll design and forge your own decorative sword under the guidance of one of our experienced blacksmiths. From shaping the blade to fitting the crossguard and pommel, you’ll be involved in every stage of the process, creating a sword that’s completely unique to you.

The experience is available for individuals, small groups and larger group bookings, with each participant creating their own sword.

Your experience includes:

Three full days at the forge (approximately 6 hours per day)

The experience costs £552.50 per person.

Optional extras, including laser engraving, bespoke inscriptions and other finishing services, are available to personalise your completed sword.
